WordCamp Philippines 2008 which was attended by 400 Filipino bloggers and held in two venues, Davao and Manila in the Philippines last September 6 was a success. It was considered a landmark event for the country, as it was the first WordCamp organized in Asia, South East Asia precisely and also attended by the creator of Wordpress himself.
To those who didn't have a chance to attend it, here is the Wordpress lead developer Matthew Mullenweg. He gave INQUIRER.net multimedia reporter Alex Villafania a sneak preview of Wordpress 2.7, codenamed "Crazy Horse." In the video, Villafania also talks to organizers of the event Blogie Robillo and Juned Sonido. You can read more information about the event here.
WordCamp is an annual event where users of the blogging software Wordpress, talk about the latest technical aspects of Wordpress and the global blogging community.
Matthew said he will continue the WordCamp in East Asian Countries such as Beijing and Shanghai in China, and Japan hopefully attended by the end of the year. You can also find out more of the upcoming WordCamp events here.
Now I just wonder if the same event would ever be held in Indonesia with the so-claimed million bloggers who I believe mostly use Wordpress as their blogging software? Or is there any interest among event organizers or bloggers in Indonesia to hold the same event anyway?
